I like the white rose of Sharon. Mine are all purple.
I had elephant ears for a couple years. .

Most of my rose of Sharon are purple, but I have a couple that are white. When I lived in Florida, I had elephant ears. You didn't have to worry about digging them up. We just covered them if it was going to get really cold!

FAIR TIME is here!
For SW MO:
Jasper Country Youth Fair, (Carthage)---poultry show Wed. July 10, 10 am.
Vernon County Youth Fair (Nevada) Poultry show Thurs July 11--last year a LOT of poultry.

Newton County Fair (in Neosho) also has poultry show on July 11. Probably we'll do Vernon instead of Newton as it's closer.

Crawford county KS has their wonderful fair in Girard at the end of July 31st to Aug 3.
Lamar's Free Fair is held in Aug. 17th- 24th. No poultry. ) :
Ozark Empire Fair poultry show is Aug 2 & 3:

How do fair shows work? I used to show birds when I was a kid but they were strictly poultry shows not fairs.

I've been doing some research and I think that a combination of too much rain and full exposure to the afternoon sun is what did my raised bed tomatoes in. I found this article by Bonnie Plants for growing tomatoes in hot climates very interesting. Has anyone used shade cloth in the hot months?

The tomatoes on the deck are shaded a bit by the trees in the afternoon so I guess that is what saved them.

So much to learn lol... but I'm making progress I think.

I was going to say before it seems to me like too much water will do them in . .but I would've thought in a raised bed they would drain really well. :idunno I'm glad I didn't put anything out this year with all the flooding we've had.
