I don't think it's the same tho...we do have the yellow garden spiders too. They make a zipper in their web, and they are colorful, w vibrant yellow markings. I'll try to get photo of Fred from the top view...
edit to add photo, see it's mostly a dull brown with very pale yellow stripes on legs. Every time I go out there, he retreats to the pole. After googling midwest spiders, I think it may be a type of 'orb weaver'

I think I remember seeing some geese when we were there. Pretty cool to see. . but
I would probably get pretty tired of them after a while if that was my yard

I just tried to take a picture of a gargantuan size grass hopper to show y'all, but I scared it away with Sues pencil.

That ones name is Price.
Our other dogs name is Keysha. Spelled strategically to mean "Take the key Shaw" a saying around my household that pretty much means stop arguing and just do it

When the hubby brought her home as a puppy I was very much against having another dog.
He handed her to me and smiled and said "Take the key Shaw"
Who could resist?

We had a tornado warning in our county last night until 9:30. The sirens were going, and we went into the basement for a while, waking up the broody hen in her jail, which I moved away from the window. It was a radar indicated storm, not sure if there was ever one reported on the ground. There was a cardinals-cubs game on tv that was getting interrupted by local weatherman with updates. The area in question was between us and Lamar, just barely south of us. It was really windy and I could hear hail.....it's still dark so we haven't been outside to look around.
@shawluvsbirds are you okay this morning?
Anyone else affected?
Edit to add-- I don't see any damage anywhere, even Fred the spider is business as usual.....
