calling any one from missouri

Today we took a trip to the nearby landfill to get rid of loads of junk, trash, etc. I love getting rid of stuff and clearing out areas. I need the basement for brooding chicks next week, and it was full of trash.
While clearing out down there, I noticed we were being watched....

I took a pic to look up ID.
At the dump, even tho our truck was jammed full, there was so little weight, they didn't charge us! It made my day!

did you ID the spider yet? I think I know what kind it is if you want a hint...

I have a bunch of old fence wire I took down but our recycle place only gives you money if you have at least 300lbs ... but they still take it for no fee, which is nice...

I have a whole trailer loaded up , but I’m pretty sure I don’t have 300 lbs still

No, tell me! A wolf spider?

look up ‘fishing spider’...

This past weekend I was trying to ID a rather large one I found dead (probably got too cold last week) ... I thought it might be a missouri tarantula... but a couple of species of ‘fishing spiders’ came up in my search... they looked very close to your spider

It says they are found near water. Maybe it came up thru the drain....there's a drain pipe to empty any water that gets into basement.

I got an email from Stark Bros nursery saying your order is being shipped, expect it May 2. We got our order 2 weeks ago. (raspberry plants) I tried to call, but recording says they are too busy to talk to customers in person. I guess I'm planting more raspberries!
Meanwhile I planted seedlings I had started from okra and zucchini, and sprouted green beans. Tomorrow, I plant my tomato and cuke seedlings.

Ugh. Just add to it why dontcha. Spiders crawling up a drain pipe.
Nightmare fuel!!

those are gord-gess 😉

I sure wish I could get some martins to live here at the house... we just don’t have enough open space
You might be surprised.
My yard is not a lot of open space either.
I think the purple martins are pretty desperate for housing these days, people just do not put houses up like they used to.
And if you ever get just one family to move in and raise a brood they will come back and bring their friends the next year.
This morning I sat and watched them landing on the ground in the duck pen and pull up worms!
This I have never seen in all of my life.
They typically feed in the air. 💁

Martins eating worms!? Now you’re just making stuff up, lol ... I’m kidding, I have no idea really, I’ve not been around them all that much.

I was going to put one up and then my neighbor up the road told me he’s never had any in the house that his dad put up 20 years ago over the garden... and his garden spot is more open than anything I have here... so I’ll have to be satisfied with just bluebirds

the MDC site says they’re not always found near water, so maybe it just came in through the front door and not the drain, lol

The picture here looks pretty close to yours... but the picture I saw the other day was more hairy like the one in your picture...

my spider was big and hairy too, but I found it while sweeping the garage and it was covered in saw dust and dirt so I never did decide exactly what it was

Maybe they just don't like your neighbor.
