Spring? Spring??? As in, isolated thunderstorms for the next week, is THAT the spring to which you refer? Yeah, we're having that spring!

Yup. Cold. No sun. Wet. Missouri, I guess. My feet are always cold, lol! I'm from the desert. This is still new to me.

We moved to MO for the milder winters....heat doesn't bother us that badly. We were married in Casa Grande AZ and actually scoped out the area for retirement.

We think about the southwest every winter and sigh. Yeah, milder than our Illinois winters but there are times where we can still definitely imagine warmer winters than what we have.

Do April showers count? Cause that's what we are getting! Mother Nature doesn't seem to know that it is May!

Well, I am down to 15 meat chicks from 17. 1 just flat out disappeared one day while I was at work. My hubby told me that evening that he found 1 of them out in the dog run but caught it and put it back. So I am guessing that the missing one must have also wandered out but did not get found or find it's way back. This morning I found 1 as flat as a pancake in the brooder. I had already planned on moving them to another area so they had more space.
So I moved them to where they have a lot of space ( 3x's more space) but this evening when I locked up I noticed I was missing 1 of the 3 black chicks that hatched out in the incubator. I looked for about 30 minutes before I finally found it. Also flattened under a bunch of meat chicks. Not sure why it wasn't able to move out of the way, the meat chicks are not that much bigger than the none meat chicks.
Hubby and I also went and got another load of free manure! I managed to get most of it unloaded before it started raining. I did finish the job. Will probably go get more on Wednesday. If I try to wait until it dries out I won't have any for a month or more ( At least that is how it feels).
