Two of our orange mini double asiatics are down... with incriminating vole holes next to them ... I just said all the swear words I know... and it didn’t help a thing

Eleanor the cat has been posted up very near the crime scene the last few evenings, but those kittens have her frazzled and so she’s not on her A-game...

Btw... just to clarify... I think you’re right about moles... they are pretty much carnivores and not interested in bulbs... but sometimes they tear up plants in their effort to gather grubs and worms...

But the voles are known bulb assassins... and are an approved to hate species

but here is the real problem... these six little freeloaders, sleeping on the job ... mouser boot camp starts at 05:00 tomorrow... how many pushups can a two week old cat do?

Last night on my way to bed I nearly stepped barefoot on a wolf spider in the floor! I kid you not.
I stopped and looked at it for the longest time thinking am I just seeing things cause I've got spiders on the brain?
Then it moved.
Yes I squashed it.

your wet yard might keep voles at bay...or maybe voles are skeer’d of dux

I said only a few ‘choice’ words... I mostly said words of a much lower grade, not fit for the public...

the kinda words that get trimmed off normal conversation and thrown in the bin to be rendered into byproducts...

I did say fiddlesticks at the end... that’s when I realized I was out of swear words

Later and later depending on sunset. DH says 8:40 is about the latest he's ever had to wait to put them up, though. You've got some real wild things there, @CrazyChicken Lady!

There is something soothing about a great horned owl hooting... we had one in the area for a week or so last summer... but mostly I just hear barred owls

This morning I’ve been hearing a coyote to the back ... just heard it howl again at 7:30... which is kind of odd to be hearing after the sun comes up

All our birds are in bed by 8 o’clock ... the broody usually puts the chicks away by 7:30... last night she was still up at almost 8 when I went to pick up eggs though ... no idea why

My hens all go in before dusk and the poor confused chicks go to bed about an hour before dusk when I close the curtain. The chicks don't get up to just before sunrise.

Finally got the rest of the red oak rounds noodled up into smaller chunks that I can handle at the splitter. Had to take a cold shower after that this morning.

And a Day Lilly.

Also my broody hen Pansy’s eggs are due in two days! So hoping they hatch.
