Well my trailer isn’t big enough to haul my lawn to TN or KY ....

so I’ll hafta make due with some pop up showers I guess

What is this plant?
So in the midst of the surprise lilies, I had planted a bunch of nasturtiums, which the cat dug around and pushed them all together in one mass. Daily watering brought this big surprise plant, what it is called we don't know. We have seen them flowering elsewhere. Is it from a bulb? How did it get here?? I didn't plant it and have never seen these here before...

Looks like maybe a canna lily?

they grow from bulbs ... but need to be lifted over winter in our area ... so maybe not?

have you put any of the nastrum leaves or blooms on your salads?

That has got to be a canna Lily!
I have actually had canna lilies come back for a year or two depending on the winter weather.
I think it's more a problem of them rotting than it is freezing.
But how in the world it got mixed in with her stuff if she never planted it who knows!

There's a sad story to this flower. It's all my fault. Remember when I was irritated at the road grader for leaving big clumps in front of our property? I said I'd plant sunflowers in them as some kind of statement as to how ridiculous the situation was. Well only one sunflower plant survived. The poor thing looked awful in its little clump, with all the road dust, and heat, and me forgetting to water it many a day. Well last week, the road grader returned. It just peeled all those clumps from our side of the road and left them in the middle of the road, our sad flower included. I ran out and grabbed it, still attached to part of the clump.
We soaked it overnight, promising to take better care of it, and planted it next to the yard hydrant where we could water it often. That night it was dug up, presumably by an armadillo. Poor thing! We replanted it and put a little fence around it, even providing shade cloth. And it's putting out a flower!!!!

I know Shaw said I was to put turkey stories on a turkey thread, but I’m too lazy to find that... sooo...

Earlier I was watching my turkey play with a fawn in the woods down by the chicken coop for about ten minutes...

The fawn would chase the turkey around in circles, and then when it would stop, the turkey would run back up to it... then they’d rinse and repeat, lol

Finally momma deer decided it was time to move on...

This all happened here in Missouri so I think it still belongs here on this thread

Soon you’ll be running to the road shaking your fist at the county knuckle heads at the first sign of them... same as me ...

probably best to just embrace the madness... you might need a pet turkey though... seems to help

That’s interesting about them making it some winters... I remember my dad growing them for a while when I was a kid and I was pretty sure he didn’t lift bulbs... but I wasn’t sure

Well I was going to mow the yard today but that's not happening now. Lol. Woke up to a storm. Looks like we actually got a pretty good amount of rain.

Aaand it's like we got another limb to cut up. Seems like Every time we get one cut up another other one falls.

We had 60+ mph winds, got 2 1\2" rain in less than an hour! It looked like a hurricane out there! (We've lived in FL so know what that's like)......Later DD and I drove into Lamar, saw lots of trees down . The fair was going even after sustaining extensive damage to booths. We saw almost empty carnival rides trying to cheer the bedraggled town, which had widespread power outages. Maybe they'll get more customers tonight, the last night. But 2 area high school students have tested positive for Covid, so it's probably just as well if most people stay home.
