calling any one from missouri

One of my Spright pullets has gone broody. I've got her in the jail in the basement. The mom, a Sebright, is a compulsive broody. The Spitzhauben half of them is not prone to broodiness. I hope I don't have 5 compulsive broodies....
I would have thought that being a cross, they'd all look different, but they all look so much alike I cannot tell them apart. I'm going to try putting on leg bands. The spiral bands failed. They can pull them right off. I may go to TSC and try the EZ bands that snap shut. I am concerned about using zip ties. Do any of you have experience with leg bands?

I’ve used these zip tie style ones I found at out local farm store in the past, they worked very well... leaving them loose of course.

I've tried the plastic split ring type, sized for my breeds, but still had issues with them being too small for the breed and the leg trying to grow over/around it. :sick😡
I've also tried the plastic zip ties. The trick is to put them on loosely enough that the chicken doesn't grow into it like the split ring ones did but not so loose that they can get it off.
I usually try to wait to band them until I think they are just about full grown and have had much better luck with the zip ties that way.

Just as you pass the Black River and the Stone Quarry on the west side of 67 is JP's Bargain Barn, look for the 3 wheeled tractor...

Cool, I'll look for you!
We have to go back down on Wednesday. The first Foundation company quoted us a price for fixing the foundation that is higher than the value of the house will be when we get everything finished!!:rant
So now we are getting other quotes. We need to rebuild a wall the previous owner took out (and put in a garage door without enough support), we also need to have a big wooden beam replaced ( it's rotting) and the front corner as well as 2 side walls piered.
So there is a lot of work to be done , but not $60,000 to $70,000 worth!

Do you know where Gamblins Lumber is? If not they are at 1006 Peach St. which is across the Black River and a couple of blocks down on the right. You can get glulam beams from them and I got all my construction lumber from them when building my house, garage, machine shop...
