calling any one from missouri

The forecast for Swamp East Missouri looks pretty bad for the rest of the week with a lot of freezing rain and wintry mix up to Thursday... Glad the wife is perfecting her sourdough bread recipe.

The hens still refuse to come out of the run except Trudy... I heard a bunch of wing flapping and squawking and looked and she had flown over the snow to a spot near the fence that didn't have any snow and was pecking the ground so I gave her some scratch and BOSS as a reward for being so brave.

They lowered weekend temps in our forecast....Sunday morning, now says -6º !!!!

could be worse... they could be predicting two feet of snow 😉

Hi all, we hatched out some eggs this spring and got what seems to be a really cute EE rooster. His dad is also super nice, (lets me pick him up and carry him around) and I've no idea how genetic "niceness" may be in roosters but we are currently full up on roosters. So I was wondering if anyone would be interested in him. He's free to any good home. I know the timing is not the best on weather but we'll probably hang onto him for a while before any final decisions are made ...

I have a thread in buy sell and trade with more pictures.

@jthornton how are the roads in Poplar Bluff today? We were planning on coming down to work on the house but don’t know if we should just stay home instead. 🤷‍♀️
We didn't get much of anything last night so the roads should be ok. MoDot did salt the roads yesterday. I've not had a reason to venture out yet today.

We decided to wait. MoDot app showed bad road conditions between here and there.

Probably a good decision, up around Farmington they usually get hit pretty good with the wintry mix when we get none.

The hens could not stand being cooped up in the run and finally broke out of the safety of the run today.

I don't know if they flew out or walked I didn't see them when they broke out. Yesterday Trudy flew out squawking and flapping wings yesterday.

It took two full days of shoveling the driveway and using salt ( I think it was too cold to do any good) and cat litter but I finally got my car up to the top of our driveway!!

Something is up with our 6 year old black lab. She started acting weird a couple of hours ago. She keeps wanting to go outside and then she is staying for a long time. Usually she wants to come back in as soon as she has finished doing her business. Tonight I have been having to go out and call for her. This last time I had to go out with the flashlight and look for her. She had bedded down in some leaves up by the house. It's 18 degrees outside but feels like 7, way to cold to let her stay out like she wants too. She wasn't coming in when I called for her. I got her to come in and she is shaking like she is real cold ( but she doesn't feel cold) or she is in a lot of pain or something.
I put the space heater near me and had her lie there but she has gotten up and moved. She is also breathing faster than normal. She hasn't eaten anything odd that we know of. She's been eating and drinking. She is up to date on all her shots. Her nose is nice and wet but not runny. I hope she is alright!
