calling any one from missouri

Wind and cold is horrible here. It's gonna be a few three dog nights in a row and I only got two dogs 🥶😭

Our mini split heat and air unit cannot keep up with these temps. Guess we are gonna have to get a propane tank. For now we are ghetto fabulous.. running off the little tanks.
Beats freezing to death or paying out the nose for more electric heat. View attachment 3724758
Shawna, these oil filled electric radiant heaters can nicely warm up an area. We heat with wood, but use these for supplemental heat in bedroom, bathroom and kitchen

Those do work surprisingly well. I used one in my daughters bedroom when she was little. That house had wood heat but her room was too far away to warm up well.
I may get one for my bathroom but i was more concerned right now about having a heat source if the power went out. That is always a good possibility when there is high wind and icey conditions.

We didn't plan space for that. We plan on a wood stove in the cafeteria when we build in there. This little house is just a step up from a tiny house. Plus my sinus/ allergies won't handle breathing wood smoke all the time. Been there done that.

I thought we'd be fine with the mini split..as long as the power don't go out. But turns out i bought the wrong model for the heat pump. Ours is only good down to 5 degrees. For the same price i could have got a different model that is good down to -22
Major mess up on my part. 🤪🥶😵‍💫🫨🥺

Well I have a single group of hens now... I put all 7 in Coop Uno last night. It is warmer in there with the heat lamps and with single digit temps they need a warm place. I was surprised that Spaetzle went right in with the other girls. Victoria went into the nest box so I had to escort her into the coop. I gotta say I'm happy how the merge went with very little issues.

It’s -5 here this morning! High is going to be 3º. With snow, but they’ve lowered to amount to a dusting. They had us expecting 7”, so we’re glad that has changed. I’ve got my Sebright hen in the basement, and she’ll stay in till Tuesday.
