Congrats on your wins and places at the sedalia show. sounds like you are doing great at the showing. I really need you to come and walk me through the showing process. I have some beautiful cochins coming on and would like to show them in the spring. do you keep all of your show birds caged seperately?

Keith wants to know if you want to double your money on those blue cages you bought at the auction? I think we will be coming with the last of our slim down birds on the 31st. Just have to make sure that we get there early enough to have our birds sell and then get back to go trick or treating!

How early do people start showing up????

ON the showing, our chickens run around the yard for the most part. In the winter months we try to keep them off the wetness on the ground by putting them in the barn area. if they are really feathered, I will put them in a cage to keep them off the poo and dirt but these girls were running around the yard having fun. It is all dependent on your setup. I would say if we had cages that you could pen them separate, Jessica would. now that we have those blue cages, she might just do that.

They get there 10 ish until the sale starts at noon. Bring your costumes and go in Marceline, there is a section of town that gets hit by the kids every year and they get GOOD treats there, you can fill up a bag quick. Also the firemen have hotdogs and hot chocolate free to the kids and parents all evening long. come get a snack and head back out to trick or treating.

Do you guys have a barred rock roo that is young and handsome? Mom needs a nice one!

No we don't have any barred rock roosters. I am trying to sell our Jersey giants and we have 3-4 New hampshire roos and 2 Light Brahma roosters to sell.

We might think about trick or treating up there. Kinda have a few family stops to make here, though.

Where is this show exactly, location wise. I am very tempted to come down, but the thing is to get Hubby to come with!! My Jap hen even went broody for me, that is why I got her, but i didn't let her hatch, now I wish I did!!! So now I want another one for spring, and I don't want to wait till next fall for a broody bantie.

Schachteles is the sale and it is 25 miles south of Marceline right off of 5 highway OR about 4-5 miles north of Keytesville.

The sale starts at noon but peeps start bringing the goods around 9:30 until sale time. Come on down. It will be fun to meet another BYC'er
