I'm Kim (Smitty's Farm). I don't live in Mo, but I'm just over the river and through the woods from St. Louis, Mo in Illinois. We've been here for about 7 or 8 years, but lived in St. Louis, Mo for about 10 yrs prior to moving here.

Suburban chick farmer do you have a broody hen right now?

Just wanted to stop by and say hello to my neighbor chicken friends. It's cold and the temps are dropping. Everyone stay warm.

Yes. It's my BO, she's a good mother but I'm not sure about the weather.

Hello neighbor! I'm in St. Louis all the time. All of my Drs are over there. Where do you live? We are tucked away in the woods near Fairview Heights, Il.

It is pretty cold right now. I've never had one go broody this time of yr. Do you have a crate you could put your broody in and bring in your garage or house?

I live right over the JB bridge off of Telegraph. The broody, is not sitting on eggs at the time. We don't have a rooster so it would be pointless.

You can keep pulling her out of the nest box to break the cycle, so she'll start laying again and I bet she'll go broody again this spring. You can purchase some hatching eggs then when it's warmer to slip under her to hatch. I had 3 Ameraucana sisters go broody this spring, but my roos were separated from them at the time, so I kept trying to break their cycle. One was stubborn, so I purchased some hatching eggs to indulge her. Actually to indulge me. LOL!!! It was a fun experience.

I have a sister in-law that lives in Columbia, Il, but works at Jefferson Barracks. I guess the closest I ever come that way would be Waterloo to get chicken supplies. Really looking forward to the new Rural King to open in Collinsville, Il, but will still have to drive to Waterloo to get my Purina feed.

Smitty's Farm......I worked at St. Clair Square when I was in my 20's! I grew up in Illinois and still go back to visit family and friends.

Hi SuzieQ!

Do you live in St. Louis now? We lived there for about 10 yrs before we moved here. I was going to drive over there today, but I'm a wimp and too cold to venture out of the house. I live just N. of St Clair Square. but not as far as Collinsville tucked away in the woods on 6 acres. I miss St. Louis and all my friends, but it's just a hop, skip and a jump to get there.

I grew up in Granite and moved to South County in "89". Now I live just past Fenton. We have 20 acres here but still close to the "city". It takes me about an hour to get to Fairview.
