i go north out of lebannon on hwy. 5 i think it is, few miles south of versailles. you shouldnt have any trouble finding it.

you dont have to register or anything, just show up at the gate and pay your 5 bucks.

you can sell just about anything there, dogs and cats you have to fill out paperwork on.

i google earthed it once, you get an idea of how big it is.

you wont have to drive 5.5 hours to get there either!

Hi everyone. Made the appointment for my meat birds for Dec. 7th. Now I have two weeks to fatten them up. I have figured it will cost me $7.50 a bird. Of course that doesn't figure in my time or water. I will decide if its all been worth it when I eat them.

Somewhat frustrated here. I had placed a WTB ad for bantam phoenix on this site. A breeder in Georgia replied but then a lady from Joplin Mo replied and said she had eggs to sell that were from the offspring of the Georgia lady. I have PM'd her twice and she has not replied. My son is so disappointed. We even got him an incubator for his birthday with plans for these eggs. I hope she reads this and PMs me.

I have also heard about Jacob's cave and plan to go to the first in the spring. I have been told by relatives to take a 4-wheeler or golf cart because it is so big. Never can have too many chickens to see.

yes it is huge, takes several hours to walk it and look.

sometimes it is so crowded with lawnmowers and 4 wheelers it is faster to walk it.

that and you get a better look at everything while walking.

Yes, over the past several years it has gotten so crowded with lawn mowers, golf carts and other forms of transportation that we just like to walk it and cut through where we can if we just want to skip a section.
It is a great place to go. We used to camp for the weekend even if we didn't have much to sell.

i would say all you can hatch. there are people there with hundreds of chicks for sale, one person brings what looks like thousand or so.

as for price, ask what ever you want. dont worry about undercutting anyone.

most people go to make money, i go for the fun of it! get to see people that i usually only see 1 or 2 times a year at shows.

time i buy gas, pay for a motel and food, i might make half of it back. but me and the wife get away for a few days, so that makes it worth it.​

It really depends on what kind of chicks you have to sell. Hatchery stock is usually cheap. What kind do you have?​

just my hatchery barred rocks. They aren't show quality but make good layers. I only want to hatch and bring em so it gives the family extra money to mess around with while we are there. Guess it will bring my to two or three rounds with the incubator. That way I have a hundred or so. If they are featuring I may ask 3 bucks for the chicks, since I will have feed in em already.

Guess I can add that even though they are hatchery stock I will attempt to improve on them.as I go. Some of the girls aren't too bad looking. Good weight, weren't real fast to mature, and they don't look too shabby with their barred patterns. Would still love to get some birds from you. Yours are gorgeous.

dont worry about them being hatchery birds, 90% of the birds at jacobs cave are hatchery stock. there are some real quality show birds there from good breeders.
the best birds i have gotten there were from a guy that just had "chickens" to keep the bugs down.

if you like pigeons there will be just about every breed and variety there. thats what i realy go for.
