1) I believe that whether or not to leave them is purely your choice. As long as they don't have any eggs to set on, they will lay more. So it just depends on how many eggs you want to get!
2) If you want to leave some for them, and hatch some yourself, you would still face the same problems as above. But the geese could probably hatch them better than we can!! If it were me, I would probably take the eggs till I had a bator full, then let them lay till they set on them. But that's just me
3) I honestly don't know how many eggs they would lay before setting. It is totally up to the bird.
I would say a couple at least, but if you take the eggs away they will just keep laying! Until they run out of course!
4) You can leave the duck egg in there no problem. They take a few days less than goose eggs normally, so you would probably need to take the duckling away once it hatches. Or maybe the gander would care for it while the goose sets? That is a ? for the experts. I'll change the post title to get some 'experts' on here.
I had no luck hatching the eggs I received, so I am just getting goslings this spring! 2 pair of American Buffs from metzer farms!
