I thought I followed the instructions for making ACV. Used the mother in a mason jar, added apple juice with no preservatives. I thought 3 months was the wait time?

I put this together 4/4. I checked them today, there is about 3/4" of mold on top. Is this normal?

No preservatives doesn't mean anything when it comes to ACV. They put things in it to prevent it from turning to vinegar. Regular apple juice off the shelf will not make vinegar no matter how much mother you put in it. You also need more than just the mother.

1 bottle of braggs apple cider vinegar to equal amount fresh unpasturized cider or juice.
