I bought some eggs from a ebay auction I won his birds are from a member on BYC I will have to find it again to know who they came from. They are two weeks old and I was expecting to see more of the cuckoo look on the wings. I know its early but I was told I could see it one the wings as they developed I can see some cuckoo on the wings but its very light and you have to look very closely to see it.

Any info or advice would be great WTA: He had a cuckoo rooster over 3 cuckoo hens and a black hen.

ETA: He got his cuckoo silkies from BYC Member: jenlynn4

if the cuckoo hens or roo had blue in the background instead of black the markings are lighter. I have some very typey blue hens in my pen and black hens

this bird will be crossed back to black. cuckoo silkies are a PROJECT so the pattern and color still has alot of variance. jenlynn4 has some very nice birds

I do think these chicks are more of a blue then a black the one that is a day older is showing cuckoo on the leg feathers and it looks to be light and a light shade of blue.

Hey, I accidentally hatched out one of these from some eggs I bought! He is just the cutest little fella. I thought he was a barred silkie but didn't know what he was called... I guess it's all the same thing, yes? I'll have to get a pic. He's about 6 weeks old. I am guessing cockerel based on his behavior, as we all know how nearly impossible it is to sex silkies.

Here's a really good pic that was taken yesterday. He's 6 weeks old. He hatched out solid black, then I noticed some gray/blue in his feathers, so we thought maybe he was a blue/black splash. But he was about 4 weeks we realized, "Hey! He's got barring!"

Here he is... this is my little buddy, Roberto (he acts like a roo, so I am assuming that is what he is).
