Calmest chicken breed?

the calmest in our flock is our Jersey Giant. even being the lead hen in the pecking order, she is remarkably kind and laidback. truly a gentle giant! all the orpington varieties seem to be very calm too.. it seems there may be a correlation in temperament with the roundness of the chicken lol
How big are Jersey Giants? Do you have any photos of the size comparison between one of your Jersey Giant hens and another standard size chicken breed? (I'm looking online but I have no idea how many of these photos are photoshopped:rolleyes:)

they are very similar in size to a brahma, having a comparable overall volume, the only difference being is that jersey giants are a bit heavier set and denser. somehow i only have pictures of her either alone or with ducks, im not sure how helpful the duck comparison will be for you but i will provide it anyway lol  i will update tomorrow with a picture of her next to one her chicken sisters for better reference. good luck on your breed research! :)

My Australorps and Sapphire Gems are the best chickens I have .They get along with the flock and don't pick on any of them. I can't brag on them enough. They are big and beautiful girls and lay x lg eggs. They also stay close to the coop and make excellent broody hens.Anytime I go to round up my chickens and count them they're the easier to find.

A calm breed allowed to free range will go wherever they please. There is no difference in how far they'll go between calm breeds and aggressive breeds.
If you're concerned about Hawks, the only thing that matters is the chicken color. Hawks tend to attack lighter and white birds first, and they tend to leave black chickens alone because they confuse them for crows.

Have you considered Australorps? Ours was very sweet, calm and quiet. Of course, personalities are an individual thing so there's always a chance of getting a more active / vocal one.
I have 2 Australorps in my flock of 12 hens and highly recommend them! I gave a friend a dozen fertile eggs to hatch some chicks this week and the only ones he was excited about were the Australorps lol. I have a barred rock ,2 welsummers, a sl wyandotte,2 Dominique's,3 brown leghorns and a Sapphire Gem(he already has 3 of the Sapphire Gems he got from me earlier)

They hens are 10lbs so I didn't add any to my flock. My rooster only goes about 6-7 lbs max and none of my hens are 7 lbs.The Jersey giant roosters can get 15 lbs. They take a lot more room than I have
