Can chickens eat Camellia Bushes?

There's a huge bush on the back of the house that needs to come down and I think it's Camellia. I would love to give it to my hens.

UCDavis has good news on your camellia, dlfridie, but I'm not sure if you should consider it a food plant:

It isn't on the UCDavis "Toxic Plants" list.

But, camellia is on their "Safe Plants" list.

(Now, maybe you should make yourself sure that it is, in fact, a camellia.

I have 4 camillia japonica bushes in my backyard. The chickens have never touched them except to hide under. I don't think they would eat them unless they were absolutely starving. FYI, camillia sinesis is what most regular tea is made out of.

You'll mostly know if it's a camellia by the shape of the flowers and leaves. My chickens LOVE to eat the flowers from my camellia.Big pink blossoms that almost look like a rose in full bloom. They don't eat the leaves but love the blossoms!
