Well, the chickies arrive this week and outbuilding repurposing had begun. Fingers crossed it will be ready when the girls are ready to move in. Maybe it's overkill in size, but maybe we'll want more chickens? Go big or go home, LOL. It's finished size is 8' wide by 17' long, and they'll have a ginormous outside run area...posting pics. We are getting 10 chicks to start but how many could this accommodate? We are brand spankig new at this, though when I was a child I raised ducks which I loved.

Their "playground".

Nice, I could give you the regular 2 square foot a bird, but I don't like that number, so many things factor into space, compatibility of your chickens, size of them, how much time outside, whether it's year round, I like for the birds to tell me, I go by squabbling or lack of it.

You're starting with ten, I might see if next year I could get another ten to fifteen in there. I have a 40x40 shed, with about 20x40 available to my chickens, by the math I could have at least 200 chickens, by my way about 40 is what I can hold before there's a lot of bickering.

Should be a real nice coop when it's done.

20-24 should fit ... Like said "it depends" ...

I like the block wall! Should keep out most preditors ... Don't bother with "chicken wire/mesh" get real welded wire fencing, or electric!
