Campine Chicken thread?

Pics
Hey, I posted a couple of pics over on The Old Folks Home thread, pop over there and take a look. As a matter of fact, you should join us there on a regular basis (not that you're old

) we are a very laid back group of characters that talk about anything and everything. It's fun, you will like it!

funny, i was just thinking about how i can barely keep up with the threads that i'm on! so i may hold off, but promise to check it out. thanks for the suggestion!

so cool -- only one of my two pullets is laying yet, but thankfully she's the "better" one (floppy comb, dark eyes, better barring), so i'm eager to see what the chicks are like. i'm actually crazily tempted to add a few more to the incubator for a staggered hatch, except i don't know how i'd deal with day 18-21 for the first batch, with no turning, but it would be days 9-11 for the recent eggs -- I should probably just wait. (although i suppose i could turn them by hand...)
hi iawatt, i'm actually experimenting with 3 staggered hatches, first is due for this saturday, second for saturday 29th, and the last for the 6th of march.
going to hand turn for two days during hatches and temporarily raise humidity
will let you know how it works out
so few campine eggs available, I have to take what can

stupid thing is my silver campine chicken has just started brooding.... a bit early in the year

it's so tempting to do the same, but i only have one brooder for raising the chicks, and the other chicks would be 10 days ahead of these -- that's a pretty big size difference. plus my incubator holds 20 eggs and there's 19 in there now, so i'd have to take something else out to make room. so, i should probably wait... but i'll be interested to know how your hatch goes!!

the first one is starting to hatch! can't wait although apparently it can now still take up to 14 hours... patience patience... going out for a drink...

yep, he/she's out, but still wet and resting. tomorrow, when all fluffy and up, i'll take some pictures. egg nr 2 seems a dud, but who knows.

wow, just found out there is a campine club in denmark, no longer making me the sole campine breeder on the european continent

and they mention eggs of 61 grams. not sure if it's true.
not sure where their blood lines come from, but the few pictures I've found show roos with more horizontal tails.
this one below is however an extreme example.
