My partner recently got an intestinal virus called campylobacter which is fairly mild, and not really bad, but after researching it looks like it mostly comes from chickens. Is this something you need to treat your chickens for? In the research I did it said most chickens can have it but don't show signs. Anyone know about this type of bacteria?

Yes I know the bacteria very well. I was sick with campylobacter jejuni in June of this year. I had two ER visits and spent four days in the Hospital. Diagnosis: colonitis due to campylobacter and H pylori bacterias. Unknown where I got the bacterias. At the time I got the bacterias, I did NOT have chickens. But yes, it is promently found in chickens, their stool, and their eggs. You can get it from under cooked chicken, under cooked eggs, such as in cookie dough.

I was on double doses of antibiotics and acid redusers for 16 days. I was miserable!!!

Extreme stomach pain, diahhrea, fever...not cool. No food or drink for five days, than a NO fiber diet for a couple weeks. I just finally am feeling better.

A few facts:
* 70 % of people have campylobactor but it only affects a small %.
* Most cases are mild
* It is the #1 reported bacteria in the country
* Hospitals are required to report it to their local county.

This is what I recieved from our county nurse:

I hope this answers some of your questions.
