can’t stop chicken pecking

It was a small tub we used on our goats. We had to use it after dark when the goats were put up, and we lost the tub(the goats were bad about making a mess). The next evening I went out to find about 10 chickens crowded around it. I immediately took it away from them and most of what was remaining was gone.

Also I'm not sure how it got opened, I closed it after use.
