My Light Brahma lays her egg, then settles back down on the nest. She's remaining on the nest longer each time. This time she's been on it over an hour. (after laying) She doesn't get nasty with me and lets me pull the egg out from under her. Today, I pulled the egg out and she was still on the nest when I left.

I'm just wondering if she's "warming up" to go broody.

Mine did.

Boy is she protective. Growls every time I get near. She WAS the sweetest pullet I had. She was hatched in January and is now 24 weeks!

My LB has that same expression, except she doesn't growl..............yet. After 2 hours of her being on the nest, I picked her up and put her on the floor of the coop. She settled back down like she was on the nest. Then after a few minutes, she got up and walked off.

Oh yes they sure can. I have a 20--that reads TWENTY week old banty pullet that just pulled the broody card with me

She started laying at 17 weeks and then decided she was going to hatch out the golf balls in the nests
