I have 5 RIR and silver laced Wynadottes. I just got a Bantam RIR in hopes it would "rule the roost" and help boost egg production, etc. I was told it would work. He is Awesome. unfortunately the regular sized RIR's are chasing him. Hes currently residing with the much more mild tempered Wynadotte's. Will he get up His nerve and take over or will he just be running scared? I wasn't given special instruction. Just got him today and put him in as soon as we got him home. Need immediate advice. Thanks all! :)

When you add birds to an already existing flock there will be fights. No matter if its a rooster or hen. they are trying to re organize the pecking order. For now I would leave him in with them. Eventually he will be accepted in to the flock, whether or not he rules the roost is up in the air. If the hens are showing a lot of aggression and drawing blood from the rooster than i would separate them. Put him in a spot where he is close and visible to the hens but can't touch each other. Once things calm down you can release him and things should settle and all will go well.

I personally always separate first for quarantine reasons but everybody has their own method. I hope all goes well! Keep me updated!
