Can a basement be livable again after having chickens?

We've had our chickens staying in the basement during the winter, maybe two months now. I want to move them back outside and make part of the basement into a bedroom area. It would be completely on the opposite side from where the chickens were. If I bleach the walls and floors in the entire basement would it be safe for us to stay down there?

I would think so.
Is there poop and stuff down there?
Just be careful with bleach. it can create a toxic gas if there is ammonia in the leftover waste. Clean all poop and stuff up first with something else then use the bleach.

Yes, you definitely need to clean. Not sure of your location although if you have a furnace that should be cleaned too because all that Chicken dander is everywhere..

Why were they living in your basement to begin with?
