can a chicken have a cold??

OOoh maybe the ceader is causing "sneazy" trouble
well i'll correct that problem tomorrow.
anyone ever use hard wood shavings, the reason i ask is
i wanted to put the poop in a compost pile & pine shavings have acid in them
hardwood shouldn't. i can go with the pine but i'll have to add lime to my compost pile.

thanks

Pine is softer. If the chicks eat any of it, softer would be better. It won't add too much acid to your soil to just do a small bale of pine shavings. Hardwood shavings, if ingested, could cause worse trouble. They might even have a bag at your feed store that has been busted and its not all there, or you can go to the section where they have rabbit supplies. Sometimes they have very small bags of shavings for sale.

After they're grown and have learned not to eat the bedding, you can switch to hardwood shavings.
