Can a chicken have a stroke? I have a pullet that is about 25 weeks. Several weeks ago, she went limping on one leg and then sitting and not moving - somewhat paralyzed but could still flap wings and clamp toes around my fingers. She showed no external signs of injury at all so I am quite baffled.
She is using her beak to balance and has started to stand somewhat but is not walking - I keep her seperated - she is laying an egg about every other day. I take her out and let her sit in the yard and find her areas that have bugs and worms. She seems very content.
She is bright, alert and talkative but seems to be reminded to eat and drink.
I'm baffled. I want to give her every chance to recover but don't know how long to wait.
