A couple years ago I got a Nankin bantam in an assortment from Ideal. I really like her and thought she was decent quality for a hatchery, as she wasn't too light colored and had blue(ish) legs. Now that I am in the country I wanted to breed Nankins but wasn't able to find anyone near with some or even good hatching eggs. So I decided to order a big group from Ideal and just keep the very, very best to move forward with, at least until I could find some better quality ones. I just got them in the mail a few days ago, but all of them have pink legs. Nankins are supposed to have blue legs, and my adult Nankin from Ideal does have blue legs (they could be bluer, but they are still blue, just not super bright)... Is it possible the chick's legs will change to blue as they grow or does this mean they will all turn out with pink legs?

Seems feasible, since most chicks start out life with orange-ish legs. :) Color often appears to develop with age. It seems slate-legged breeds usually have a slightly dark wash.

Pictured below are my day-old Brassy Back OEGBs, who now sport slate legs at 2 weeks.

Well I'm hoping they change... Right now they look pretty much straight up pink. I can't remember with my now grown Nankin what color her legs started out as. But the Brabanters and EEs already have grey/green legs...
