Yes - ravens are quite big and are definitely comparable in size to the red tailed hawk. I’ve heard them described as “a large black beak attached to a massive bird” compared to crows which present as just a large, black bird.I'm learning all about this stuff, but is it true that ravens can sometimes match the size of a red tail? I really am curious because we have a group or mob of about 5, and I swear they can spot a hawk a mile high and show no mercy on them when ravens spot them
I took the attached images of a raven high up in a tree at my house and the field markings of the huge beak and wedge shaped tail are easily observed even at a great distance with a poor image quality.
