Hey,I just yesterday got a pair of scovys and they are nice and docile.Im just worried if I integrte them into my flock of 3 mallard females and female pekin that he will try to mate with them and might actually by accident kill them!Do you think this will happen or will they be ok?

(I know we just chatted over on another topic. . .)

I have heard of people having trouble with that - a large muscovy seriously wounding ducks, especially smaller breeds. There may be exceptions to that, too, but I would keep them apart. If you really want to risk it, I strongly suggest you keep a close eye on them together, and separate them when you can't be nearby, at least for a while. Sometimes hormones make ducks do unkind things.

OUCH!! Talk about really painful lovin'! That's if he doesn't kill them. Poor girls.

Well then I guess ill have to seperate them the pekin is already good froends with the mallards so ill keep her with them and the scovys can have there own partioned off section of the run thanks guys without you I guess I would have seen one of the mallards squashed!

Pringle your signature says you have 6 ducks but the math works out to 7

1 pekin 4 mallards and pair of scovies = 7

Lol I forgot that,I gave 1 away a little while ago so i guess I forgot to change it ill do it right now!

The pekins would be fine with the scovies, but the mallards should be kept seperate,
now for the scovies breeding the pekins the off spring will be mules and not fertile. the eggs will only be good for eating not for hatching.
If you want pure breedings I personally would keep all 3 breeds seperated.
seperating them also makes the eggs worth much for for people who want to hatch

The only male duck I have is the scovy so I know that there eggs will be pure.Good news though the scovy has layed 2 eggs and I only brought her here on sunday lol she must like it already and im getting my incubator soon so ill hatch out around 6 of her eggs.
