Can a muscovy kill a hawk?

We had a hawk grab our rouen hen a couple weeks back. Luckily she was too heavy for it to carry more then 20 or so feet. When it landed it started pecking the heck out of her. DH and I ran out waving a broom and the thing flew off. The rouen came waddling to us covered in blood - it did a number on the back of her neck and nearly took out her left eye. A little TLC and a few days inside in a sick pen and she's completely healed up (well, there's still a little bald spot on her neck but it makes her look tough

If we had gotten out there 1 minute later she would've been a goner.

Lucky for us the hawk chose some roadkill as it's back-up dinner. We drove by a very flat, dead hawk the next day. Our ducks haven't been bothered since.

I don't think a hawk would have a chance against my Muscovy drake...maybe the girls if it hit them right, but flying away with one would be impossible...they are heavy...I recently moved the four girls and the drake to a new pen...the girls were pretty easy but moving that big drake could have been classified as a rodeo event...he bit, scratched and slapped the snot out of me...he was really ticked off...he is a lot bigger than the hawks I have seen around here...

A hawk tried to grab a little brown duck recently and he just picked the wrong one...she is little but a total MMA fighter...and she is LOUD! When the hawk tried to get a grip she started yelling at the top of her lungs, striking him with her wings and rolling around...and then her gang showed up...her drake and the ganders got envolved and the hawk was lucky to get out alive...I have not seen him since...if the hawk was not physically injured, I am sure his ego was shattered...he has probably decided to go vegetarian...

Chickensioux. Thats a hungry Coopers.(medium sized hawk for people that dont know) But if he did it once he will do it again.Im pretty sure the coopers gonna win though if push comes to shove personally. Sorry chickiebooboo and aduckstolemyheart ,but its best to keep em penned (but I know you know this and accept the consequences) Duck walk Sorry, but I think if a hungry red tailed hawk ( big hawk for people that dont know)saw your muscovey drake he would be killed whether he flew off with him or not. Dead is still dead. Was it a sparrow hawk ( tiny hawk) Mysticalmom ?

The only hawk I know of that attacked my flock was a Sharps or Coopers. I net the top of my runs during hatching season and it got tangled in the net. I have a tall tree just 50 feet from my runs There has been a Red tailed nest in it every year for the last 9 years, They prey on the rodents and the birds that feed on the spilled feed. When they kill in the yard they pick up and go fast because of two Muscovy drakes and what ganders I have bearing down on them ready to defend the territory. even when both hawks were on the ground they thought it was time to go home when they saw one Muscovy drake coming fast. Like I said speed and surprize will allow a kill but if gets to a fight i'll bet on the drake.
