I had caught a med size coon several years ago and put it in a rabbit cage made with 1" chicken wire till I got ready to skin him. It took him about an hour to get out, and he only had 1 good hand. The way he got out, he didn't actually bite or cut through the wire, he worried it between the 1" galvanized staples the secured the wire every 2" on the 2x2 frame until it was deformed and the strands had untwisted enough to develope enough slack that he could squeeze through. You see, if you worry the wire enough, the horizontal strands will untwist and separate.
