Can a roo have an heart attack from over breeding? I have 15 hens in a 10'10' coop and they won't come out in the snow. He mates one, takes 2 steps and is at it again. This go's on all day long. Sure is a lot squacking coming from the coop. If he doesn't have heart failure I sure bet he sleeps good.

How old is he? If he is young it is probably all so new and wonderful to him. I wouldn't worry about HIM, it sounds like HE is livin the good life, what about your poor LADIES??

My rir rooster will be six months old on the 24th and some days he is the same way but other days he could careless abut the hens so I have no clue.

You think yours is bad? One poster said that her gate slammed shut and a hen that was trying to reach across the threshold to nibble some grass got her head caught between the gate and the threshold. She started to squawk and flap. Along came her roo to the rescue, only he did not 'rescue' her. Oh no. Instead, he hopped on for a quickie.

How many hens do you have? Maybe you need more to pass the love around to. And a side note. If that continues, I would highly recommend getting some saddles for you girls.

15 hens and 5 more BO pullets in the brooder. You would think that would be enough. He will probably slow as he ages and I also plowed the outside 35'x110' run that was full with 3' of snow. I plowed down to the dirt and will bribe them out tomorrow with treats. Once they see the dirt they will be outside do in what chickens do.

Sounds about right. As far as the run goes.....my girls won't go out unless there is a little hay down.
