Can a rooster that has turned mean be redeemed?

I followed the advice given on the links provided, and he's mellowing out. Still, we'll have to watch him a while. I went out this morning to open the coop doors and let everybody out & I had on shorts. Rico LOOKED at my legs like he was gonna do his attack thing, but I immediately spread my arms wide open (to catch him) and started chasing him. He ran from me and backed down, but I eventually caught him, picked him up, and carried him around with me for about 15 minutes while I went around doing chicken chores and visiting the other coops to let those chickens out into the yard, as well. He is being appropriately contrite now this morning and runs from me when I go out into the yard.

I am going to do everything I can to rehabilitate him. If not, though... Mmmm, Rico enchiladas y caldo de pollo. Mmmm.

My Buff Orpington roo is generally fine with me, but has started challenging DH. He gets a pass for a week or so, however... I heard the Rooster Alarm and went out to find him facing down a coyote! He was a little twitchy after that and even pecked *my* foot, which he has never done before.

So... I'll put up with a little attitude because he takes such good care of the hens, but I'd draw the line at hurting any of the other animals.

That's inspiring.

I try to tell everyone that one day my Silkie may pay us back, though hopefully he won't ever be made to. Right now his only practice are a few feed-theiving ducks.

OP, if you can successfully rehab your boy, that's awesome.

People have made it work for them. I wish I could have. Lost so many pretty roos...
