can a scissor bill or cross bill be corrected in young chicks?

Yes.. It is really thin. Once you start filing, you can tell by the texture of it. It's sort of like a soft fingernail.

Did you notice the crossbeak right away? I feel horrible just went down to clean, water fed my 2 week olds and saw one EE with a crossbeak. We have been very busy with family issues, but the first week I picked up each one twice daily to check for pasty butt. I know I have picked her up many times as I put them in a box, cleaned brooder and them put them back in when they were new. I guess I was examining wrong end. I would swear that wasn't there before, is this possible? She is as big as the others and looks good otherwise.
