Hello everyone , I have a baby chicken that was abandoned by their parents. She was born prematurely and is very small. I have taken on the role of mother but unfortunately it seems the heat lamp and my own touch is simply not enough for it.

She has managed to shimmy out of the boarder inside of her brooder and has attempted to hide underneath a larger chick , though was turned away and resulted in her crying very loudly for a while. Nothing helped. My mother suggested we put her underneath a teenage chicken I have been raising as my personal pet since her birth on Easter after she survived two dog attacks and has been left with a malformed leg. She cannot keep up with her siblings or other teenage chicken friends , so I am the only company she has when playing on the floor.

Today I placed the new chicken ( guts , named after a manga protagonist ) underneath my teenage one ( kitty , named after the fact that she essentially has nine lives ) and so far kitty has been sitting on top of her nicely while guts sleeps and remains quiet. I was wondering if she would be a fit mother to watch over the chick as I do other things , as it is now sleeping underneath her quietly. They are half sisters , same rooster but different hen. They seem to get along well enough. I just know that kitty is quiet and laying on her like a regular hen , which is weird because this is her first time and has never laid an egg nor sat on top of one before. They are both a mix of silkie ( hen ) and jersey giant ( roo ).

Sounds like you got some crazy things going on in regards to chickens. Ever thought about Golf or Coin Collecting?
