I have recently added a White Star and a Black Star to my flock of Isa Browns, my brown girls all lay brown eggs so I thought it would be nice to have a different coloured egg in my basket. The Black Star started to lay 2 weeks ago (small brown egg)I was told the White Star would lay white eggs as she had white ears , I have been getting my usual 6 brown eggs plus a small brown egg, but today there was 6 large and 2 small brown eggs ,I am asuming one is from the White Star (she is 22 weeks old) is it possible for a white eared hen to lay a brown egg?? Curious to know!!

There is no genetic linkage between earlobe colour and egg colour. While there is a general tendency for birds with white earlobes lay white eggs, there are exceptions. The mediterranean breeds tend to be ones who lay white eggs and have white earlobes--traits that are generally bred together, much like plymouth rocks are often bred to have yellow legs and barring. Just because it is barred does not mean it will have yellow legs. There are plenty of examples that do not.

I've never heard of a white star.

A White Star is a specific, commercially developed, production strain of white leghorn with white legs. If a true White Star it will lay a large white egg, though this has nothing to do with the colour of her ears.
While White Stars do lay white eggs, it is perfectly possible for a white eared bird to lay a white egg. Some exhibition strains of leghorn have lost their brilliant white egg colour & will lay a tinted egg.
