Can a whole nest be rotten?

Ok she finally came off and I got down to business and took all the eggs. No more were rotten but 5 were clear. So I got rid off those and now I'm down to 8. I think it looked like 2 weren't moving when I was candling. Does that mean they are dead or is it possible they are asleep or something? They were as far along as the other eggs.
Good for you. glad no more were rotten, and you have now given her a good number for her first brood. the 2 that weren't moving could have been asleep it's so hard to know but with hatch day so close it won't be long till you find out,. Now you sit back and watch in between pacing lol. She'll take care of the rest of the work all you'll have to do is put out feed and fresh water. and from what you have said about her coming for you sounds like she is going to be a very protective mama. You've done a good job! Keep us updated
forgot to say I like your avatar too.

Sorry that's it's been so long. No new news though. Just waiting, might I say very eagerly! We are at 32 days so I'm hoping for hatching to start Wednesday! The wait is driving me crazy!

It's day 36 and she got off her nest and I looked at the eggs and I couldn't see any bills popping through the eggs. I didn't candle the eggs but is there still a chance of them hatching with no babies starting their way out?

Candling will give you your answers. Hopefully you'll see some internal pipping. Update when you can.35-37 days for Scovy's

Sorry I haven't updated. I did candle on friday and saw 3 internal pipping, the other 5 I couldn't tell. Today, day 39, 2 have hatched! No pictures yet but I'll post some when I can get a good one. Thank you Miss Lydia for all your help and thank you also to CochinBrahmaLover for the courage to candle!

Not the best pic but as good as I can get right now. There are 5, 4 black and 1 blue! There sure seems to be a lot of black for 2 blue ducks!

they are precious, and you cannot judge a scovy duckling by it's color when hatched. they will change so much over the next weeks it will blow your mind. Congrats on a great hatch.
