That's interesting! Do I just leave them with mom and she will teach them how to eat and drink?

Put their feed and water close by and mama will show it too them. make sure the ducklings cannot climb into the water container and feed either an all flock or starter crumbles not layer. or duck starter if you can get it. It's okay for mom and the rest of the flock to eat it too, but if you get an All flock they can start out on it and remain on it for all their lives. Be sure to post pics as often as you can I know I sure enjoy watching the changes that take place. That's interesting! Do I just leave them with mom and she will teach them how to eat and drink?
What a good mama, sure looking forward to seeing how your lil ones color up. always interesting.
Can you actually see the duckling still trying to get out of the egg with the internal pip? you maybe able to help it if you can keep it misted with warm water under a light, but chances aren't good. as for the others just depends on how long she is on the nest, usually once they leave with the ducklings the left over eggs don't usually make it, But some have taken paper towels and wrapped them around the eggs and kept them moist. you might get some help hereI can't wait to see how they will turn out! Ok so since she only hatched 5 I just went out an took the last 3 eggs, she takes the babies out a lot so I can actually go in the nest now. I candled them and it looked like the eggs had babies in them. One had internally pipped the others haven't. Is it too late for them to hatch? She isn't on the nest much anymore so they can't be getting much heat.
Probably a good idea, and enjoy the ones that hatched, your mama duck knows what's best. I think if they don't hear ducklings making peeping inside egg they pretty much give up and take care of those that have hatched. Thanks Miss Lydia. I didn't think the one that had internally pipped was still trying to get out because I couldn't see any movement. And I didn't see movement in the other two but I just decided to put them back in the nest. I checked earlier and candled and nothing had changed. If there isn't any movement or changes by tonight I think I will bury the eggs.
Look forward to seeing them as they grow.Ok thanks! I just buried them, I think they didn't have a chance at this point. But I am enjoying the other 5! I'll make sure to post pictures often!
