Can African Geese Fly??

From what I’ve learned is they’re a lot like chickens. They CAN fly if muscles are exercised whilst young; however, they should typically be able to fly just enough to evade predators—remaining in flight for a few seconds to escape faster. Of course, if you’re worried you can possibly clip their wings? I’ve seen people do it! Not sure there!

After reading the replies on this thread though, I realize I definitely will not be encouraging my three Chinese goslings to fly. Otherwise- the bands I’m looking to get will definitely come in handy!

Wow! Surprise!

My geese just got the zoomies. Rather than run through gate Freckles just flew over the 3ft welded wire! Flat, relatively short run up, and casually grazing on the other side when she landed. She hatched 2 yrs ago. Dad brown African, mom prob mix (she has a white chest.)

The only wing exercise I can think of is getting out of straight sided the pool. (Which does have an egress on the opposite side.)
