Hi guys todays been kind of a rough day, so I went to the coop to pick up my favorite duck so I could pet her. But she wasn’t having it today. I tried dropping her lightly so she could fly but she fell flat on her stomach and I heard a smack sound. She is a laying duck so I’m worried the smack sound I heard was an egg breaking inside of her. For all the experts, is this possible or was what I heard just the result of her belly flop? and if it is possible what do I do? She’s my favorite duck and I really don’t want anything happening to her. Here’s an old photo of her.

Then most likely it wasn't an egg you heard. If you have any food coloring you can put some with a cotton ball around her vent so tomorrow when she lays you'll know it was her who laid. That way you'll have piece of mind.

Why do you say most likely wasn’t an egg? Is the egg not formed yet until morning?

It takes around 24 hours to make an egg inside before she lays it. But since you only got 6 eggs today from 7 ducks to be absolutely sure she laid and lays tomorrow the food coloring will come off on the egg when she lays it and you'll know for sure it was her.
