We had a great hatch, 15 out of 16. They all hatched a day early (Thursday) and we let the late one stay in the incubator. I candled it today and saw no movement, or signs of pipping the air sac. I took it outside and carefully opened it, to find the dead chick floating in yellow goo. Looks like the chick died about day 14 or so, it was not full-sized. This has caused me to wonder if the chick perhaps pierced its yolk sac and thus starved to death. Has anyone else discovered this, and wondered the same thing??
