Hello everyone! I took pics of my dear "Diggy" thoughts on the gender would be appreciated! Diggy turned 4 weeks old on Wednesday, the comb is more pronounced than any of my others at this age...BUT it is my only Barnevelder AND I am a newbie so this is the perfect storm for knowing NOTHING. Thanks in advance!

That is what I have been thinking!!! YAY! Could you tell me anything special about the breed? Diggy is one social bird! Sweet too!

I got 2 Barnevelder chicks last August. One was friendly and one was not at all. Sadly a hawk got one when they were just a couple months old...the friendly one of course! I named the remaining girl Nervous Nelly because she's so very skittish. The other day she freaked out when I only walked past the coop. She's a really pretty bird though but not a good layer. But I keep hoping. Currently she lays 1-2 eggs per week. She is 11 months old so I thought she'd be doing better by now. The other girls lay 5-6 a week. I'll wait and see. Good wishes for yours!

So you think Diggy is a little man too huh?!?
Quite possibly, though I'm not that sure of myself just yet. I've only had chickens for 2 years. There are many on this site with much more experience. Your cute little chick does seem to have lots of comb color for one so young and boys color up first.

Thank you! I am so new at this....I find myself wanting to post all of mine to see what y'all think!
