It really depends, most breeds you can narrow down as day old chicks but confirm the breed when they are older. Gender guessing you need to be at least 6 weeks but some you can't tell for sure till they are laying or crowing.Anyone have any ideas about how old chicks should be to start trying to figure out which breed is which? Also which are male and female?
We have 16 chicks, 2 weeks old as of Monday tomorrow. They have mostly fully feathered wings and some tail feathers but I don't know if they are old enough to have enough color to be distinguishing from each other.
