Hi everyone. I've got two guinea eggs left to hatch in my incubator ... it's a mini R-Com so it only holds three. When I got home from Lowe's this afternoon/evening about 5:30pm, one egg had hatched! There are supposed to be three days left according to my 28-day countdown. The last time I used this incubator I had one bantam sultan hatch. I left him in there about two hours then put him in the brooder .... and lost the other two eggs. They had been rolling around and making noise but they stopped. I waited too long to intervene and by the time I opened the eggs there were two perfectly developed dead chicks inside.
I never even noticed this guinea egg rolling or peeping or pipping ... it was a huge shock when I got home today! But now I'm nervous that the others haven't started doing anything yet. It's only been three hours ... I know I should just sit back, leave chick number one in the incubator until the other two eggs hatch ... but how long do eggs usually go between hatching? Should they all hatch about the same time? I see flashbacks from last time happening all over again and I really don't want to lose these two eggs. Can anyone give me a peptalk or a walk through? What should I be doing right now ... besides going crazy?!!
Thanks for your understanding.
