Even worse is they moved out over a month ago and just left her locked in a cage without food and water. Can you imagine being so cruel? Poor girl.

Oh and make sure it’s an adult hen. She’ll peck a chick to death if she’s not broody.

Also don’t over crowd your coop it looks on the small side

She’s just in a small cage, it’s not a proper coop. There is no way for her to get to the ground and it’s only about 2’x3’, if that. I’ll get her set up with a proper chicken coop ASAP and then look for another adult hen that needs a home. I don’t have a huge yard so would like to just have two hens if that works? Would it be terrible to let her out in the yard tomorrow? She seems friendly but I’m worried she could fly over the fence or that I might never catch her. I feel very sorry for her having been stuck in that cage so long though and I’m sure she would love to scratch around. Any thoughts?

She's beautiful! Good on your for taking her into your care. I despise how so many people can leave their animals behind like that, locked in a cage with nothing. Glad you found her before anything terrible happened to her. Good luck!
