Can anyone identify this "extra" from Holderreads?

Unless you are planning on breeding for show etc, you could just leave her with the rest. Did you have another blue female? Or a black female? I can't remember from the pics. If you don't, you can just remove the blue/greenish eggs that she will lay and eat those and incubate the rest.

I'll bet it's a magpie. there are lots of magpie's out there with poor coloring, any breeder knows you can't help what colors you get form magpie's and only 1 in 10 is going to be half way nicely marked. the type looks just like it, magpie's are related to runners and have the same head but don't carry themselves as high as a runner. I dought it is a poorly bred runner from holdereads.

I don't believe that Holderread would even have "defective" ducks and they won't have mixed breeds either. Looks like a Blue Swedish to me. I have a Black Swedish named Houdini Duck who looks very similar: http://2mooses.weebly.com/meet-the-quackers.html#Houdini.

Houdini hangs out with my Runners and is also very smart, like your Greg. She can't really fly anymore but she could flap fairly far when she was younger.

I definitely plan on keeping her! She is the only dark female, so we should be able to distinguish her eggs. (so far only 1 is laying a bluish egg a day) She is an excellent forager. I just feel bad for her b/c the runners are constantly bee-lining across the yard. She looks up from foraging and there go the runners again, you can tell she is getting annoyed with her ADHD sisters & bros!! I was just trying to figure out what she might be so we can get her some ducks that might stay in one place with her for more than 1 minute!!

Houdini does sound like Greg and she's cute too!! But I don't see Blue/Black Swedish available on Holderread's website.

Your website is very nice!! All of your animals are beautiful!! And I can't believe you are only 30 mins from DC!!
I wouldn't think Holderread's would have mixed breeds on purpose. But, if devilishness is an inherited trait... I wonder if her dad jumped a fence and hooked up with a runner, then returned to his pen....
