can anyone identify this mushroom(?) for me please?

I found it! It's a bear's head tooth mushroom. Totally safe too

maybe I'll see if my dad wants it..says it tastes like seafood, specifically lobster. Don't eat seafood really, so will try to talk him into trying it

Does anyone know if I leave it alone will it come back again after winter? If it keeps coming back I am going to leave it. I just love looking at it

Good ID. It is a bear's head, aka conifer coral hericium, goat's beard, and pom pom du blanc.

Can get up to 50 lbs, but is usually less than 10. It is highly prized for it's great taste. It grows on dead conifers. Can also be yellowish or have a pinkish tinge.

It will come back year after year. It's OK to take the visible part, just try to not damage the tree. Use a sharp knife to cut it off the tree. This is true of most mushrooms.

Imp- & Oh maple,

Let's crystalize it and send it to Imp to hang on the impy wall

What makes you think I don't have one already.

When i see things like that I always wonder...who was the first person brave enough to try it?
