I was wondering if anyone could make toddler dresses? I want my daughter to have a special dress this Thanksgiving because it will be the first time in her almost three years to have a family Thanksgiving so it is very special to us all. I have a few ideas, but I'm sewing challenged and I'm afraid to even attempt making her dress, so if anyone can help me out I would be thrilled

!!!

ETA: I would be happy to pay a generous price, but some people on Ebay are looking to get $50-100 for a cotton Thanksgiving dress.

Don't know if this is 'fitting', but I saw some little girls' dresses on etsy that were made from pillowcases. They were very nice, surprisingly.

Ah, I was looking on Etsy and I found some really cute ones, but we are wanting something a little bit more special since it is her first Thanksgiving with each of our famillies.

Well poot. The little girl dresses I make aren't really "dress up" type dresses. But way funky and fun type dresses. Those fancy dresses require too much patterning, I like to just wing it.

But good luck!

No, that's not really the type of thing I make. Sorry. But if you sew they are easily made with a pattern. (I know you said you were sewing challenged, but maybe someone local could make it.)

I will tell you that unless you get the pattern on sale, anymore the pattern and fabric would probably run you at least 15-20$. That doesn't include any special findings or the time to make it.

edited because i'm slow...

Well, I don't know how to sew all that well... I never have been very good at it. Thanks for looking though, hopefully someone on here knows how to make them!

You can do this if you find yourself a "Easy Sew" pattern. The first two look very basic if you cannot do buttons then you can do snaps or even velcro....zippers and buttons are difficult for beginners. Trust me if you take your time and have patience with yourself you can do it and you will feel so proud and so will she to wear the dress that mommy made for her. I am a middle of the way sewer and have made lots of dresses for my girls. Remember patterns run large and there are so many easy sew patterns to choose from.

Would something like this work? http://www.simplicitynewlook.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7444

I
hate to say it, but 50.00 isn't that far off. Approx. 17.00 for fabric, basic notions, interfacing and thread. The darn pattern is 10.95 and the "Easy Patterns" rarely go on sale in my area. So there is 28.00 in materials before labor is added.(and that is being on the frugal side) If the pattern is on eBay you might be able to cut out some of the cost, then have one of us with a huge stash pile of fabric already on hand sew it for you. Long distance fitting might be a little tricky, but can be done. Just some thoughts to keep you going. I have tons of cotton fabrics, if you wanted a fall theme, just the bottom trim fabric could be purchased new and you would have a part in designing what your daughter's dress looked like. I would even be willing to donate the main fabric for your daughters dress if you have someone nearer you to do the sewing. Not sure how much girly fabric I have that is fall colors but I can look. I know I have several pieces of bright funky kids fabric but will have to look for autumn colors.
