can anyone tell me about how long it takes for a chick to break out of its shell once you see the 1st signs of breaking out?

It can take 24+ hours from the pip till a chick is completely hatched.

Longer than I can sit on my hands, that's for sure. I'm waiting on five very special eggs, that's all I have of the original 13 that went in, and they are late, and seem to be taking their sweet old time. Heard cheeping last night (day 22), this morning one had pipped just a bit, another only the bump out, now two are pipped and I can see them, three still with just the bump, everyone says don't touch, don't touch but it's awfully hard. They can take another 24 hours after first pipping so just be patient. Now, if I can just take my own advice
