Can anyone tell me their experiances off hatching using egg boxes

I tried something different and wasn't sure if it would be good or not. Now I am trying it again.

I bought a few of the plastic egg turner trays from Cutlers Supply. Then I took the Sawz-all and cut it into 12, 6, 6 forms.

I thought that the plastic wouldn't suck up the humidity as much as the paper and they also have quite a few holes for ventilation in each egg hole. Then in the dishwasher to clean and sterilize for the next hatch.

I was worried that they chicks would get stuck or break a leg in one of the holes. But I had 12 of 14 hatch and not one problem other than the small 6 form tipped over when one chick hatched out. I had only put 3 eggs in there.

I do like cartons and my plastic form better than on their sides so far.

Does anyone have any experience with styrofoam egg cartons vs cardboard ones? Pros/cons of each?

I could see chicks potentially pecking at styrofoam ones. That would definitely be a no-no....
